James "Jim" D. Clark

Memorial services for James D. Clark, 69, of Frankfort, will be held Thursday, July 9th at 11:00 a.m. at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home and he will be laid to rest in Frankfort Cemetery. Dr. Wesley Noss will officiate. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. James (Jim) passed away peacefully at home the morning of Thursday, July 2, 2026, surrounded by his loving family and friends. A steadfast man of unwavering faith, life-long commitments, and enduring honor, Jim was born January 22, 1957, in Frankfort, KY to the late Florence Elizabeth Gilbert and James Dennis Clark. In college, he met and married the love of his life, Abby Clark. Together, they lived their lives to the fullest, as they raised three sons, built an abundant and happy life, and pursued their interests and hobbies. They traveled extensively abroad and enjoyed summertime, cabin vacations at the lake with family and close friends and were deeply committed to each other and their relationship with Jesus Christ. Jim was a talented athlete, especially enjoying playing basketball, football, and baseball in his younger years, as well as golf later in life. A skilled, natural musician who played by ear, he enjoyed playing guitar and singing for himself, his family, and others. A tactile learner and autodidact, Jim could fix almost anything around the house and in the garage. A selfless, generous, and authentic man who lived his faith, he was always ready and willing to help others, even helpless strangers he met on the side of the road. Jim loved everyone, always strived toward kindness, and did his best to see the best in others. He unofficially adopted many into his family over his lifetime and kept his door open in comfort and refuge for others – always ready to welcome, always ready with a quick joke, always looking for the light in the dark. A wise man, who stored his treasure in heaven, Jim’s legacy on Earth will be as great as any man’s: the love and remembrance with which his memory continuously renews itself in the hearts and minds of those who cherished him in life and cannot ignore his profound absence in death. Jim graduated from Murray State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Police Administration. While in school, he joined Sigma Chi Fraternity and made many meaningful and lifelong friends. He was a former deputy with the Lee County Sheriff’s Department in Florida for almost 15 years and later became a special investigator with Travelers Insurance Company. He was a devoted member of Buck Run Baptist Church. Jim is survived by his wife, Abby; his three sons: Tyler Clark, Nathan Clark, and Matthew Clark; his added children: Glenda Todd, Renan Serafim, and James Johnson; his brother: Bruce Clark; two sisters: Tina Harrod and Susan Warfield; and three grandchildren: Patrick Clark, Lauren Clark, and James D. Clark IV. He is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and two sisters. Pallbearers will be Bruce Clark, Rob Clark, Tom Russell, Matthew Clark, Nathan Clark, and Renan Serafim. Arrangements have been entrusted to LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Jim’s honor to the American Cancer Society.
