Charles Roe Early

Charles Roe Early, devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Graefenburg, KY on Friday, February 28, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on February 27, 1937, in Shelbyville, KY, he was the son of John Clarence and Nancy Gray Early of Bagdad, KY, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gray Early; brothers-in-law Joe Franklin, Bruce Ruble, and Stanley Bruner; and sisters-in-law Nancy Pullium Bruner and Wilma Early. Charles shared 61 beautiful years of marriage with his loving wife, Mary Ann, whom he wed on July 3, 1963, in a ceremony officiated by Rev. Grady Nutt. Their enduring love and partnership were a testament to faith, devotion, and unwavering commitment to family. A hardworking man, Charles dedicated 37 years of service to G.E. Appliance Park in Louisville before continuing his career at Lowe’s in Frankfort, where he worked in the plumbing department for 10 years. A man of deep faith and community involvement, He completed his primary and secondary education at Bagdad High School and was a past president of the Bagdad Elementary PTA. He was a devoted member of Graefenburg Baptist Church for 49 years. Charles found immense joy in life’s simple pleasures—fishing, cutting firewood, gardening, and tending to his farm. His strong work ethic was matched only by his love for his family, whom he held close to his heart. He leaves behind his wife, Mary Ann Pullium Early of Graefenburg; and two daughters, Cynthia Early Hulker (Carl) of Graefenburg and Amy Early Knecht of Shelbyville; grandchildren Adam Forrest Knecht of Louisville, Kacey Moriah Hulker (Alston Geers) of Lawrenceburg, Hannah Ruth Knecht Medwid (Jameson) of Eminence, and Kaleb Roe Allen Hulker (Megan) of Richmond; nephews Bobby Early, David Early, and John Early, all of Shelbyville; and nieces Dana Early Emily of Shelbyville and Paulesa Early Davis of Bowling Green. The pallbearers will be Gilbert Pullium, Carl Hulker, Adam Knecht, Kaleb Hulker, Tom Sorrell, Gil Pullium, Nathan Franklin, Josh Bruner, and Blake Pullium. Honorary pallbearers will include Bobby G. Early, Dana Emily, Kacey Hulker, Hannah Knecht, Alston Geers, Jameson Medwid, Megan Hulker, and Joel Bailey. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at LeCompte-Johnson-Taylor Funeral Home, Frankfort, KY, during Visitation on Thursday, March 6, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025, at 1:00 PM, with burial to follow at Bagdad Cemetery, Bagdad, KY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Graefenburg Baptist Church Student Ministry or Hosparus Health of Louisville. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Hosparus Health of Louisville for their loving care and compassion and to the grandchildren for their gentle care and sharing so many memories with their Grandad.
