James Ernest Miller, 69, Frankfort, died Saturday at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be held Thursday, 2:30p.m., at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. Rev. Keith McAliley will officiate. Military honors will then be presented by VFW. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor, Thursday evening, 5:00 – 7:00p.m., at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. American Legion will have a presentation of colors at 6:30p.m. A native of Valentine, Nebraska, he is the son of Edna Jeanne Prang Schnel and the late O. Marvin Miller. Mr. Miller was proud to be a former member of the US Army and was extremely active in the VFW, DAV, former local and state commander of American Legion, director and national officer of 40&8, received National Volunteer Award – 40 yr. service from Pres. Obama. He was a UK Alumni and an avid UK sports fan. He was an environmental engineer who retired from KY Environmental Protection, air quality. He was a member of Bridgeport Christian Church. Survivors include his mother; his wife, Linda Lee Miller; sons, Jamie Miller (Christy) and Timothy Miller, Frankfort; sisters, Dorothy McDonald, Lexington, Linda Hannon, Colorado Springs, Co and Susan Kluesner, Sherman, TX and 5 grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in his name, to American Cancer Society, 1500 College Way, Lexington, KY 40502; or L.I.F.E. House for Animals, 14 Fido Ct., Frankfort, KY 40601.
