David Snavely
December 8, 1937 - January 1, 2015
Services for David Jerome “Hoppy” Snavely, 77 will be 3:00 p.m., Sunday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Herb Slaughter will officiate and burial will follow at Bagdad Cemetery. Visitation will be 12 noon until the time of service Sunday. A Shelby County native, he was a cable splicer for Western Union Telegraph for thirty-two years, a bus driver for Shelby County, and worked at Wal Mart for several years. David enjoyed gardening, working on cars, and spending time with his family. He will be remembered as being a Godly man, always helping people in need, and his love for all animals. Survivors include his sisters; Barbara Hartman, Frankfort, Effie Gordon, Shelby Co., a brother; Ronald Snavely, Elmburg, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; Henry Adam Snavely, Sr. and Annie Kendall Snavely and siblings; Wilma Adams, Dixie Sloan, Annie LeMay, Arizona Margaret LeMay, Jennie Mary Martin, Vestina Clark, Adriel Snavely, and Henry Snavely, Jr. Tony Clark, Charlie Gordon, Eric Gordon, David Husband, Aaron Louden, Dylan Husband, Michael Snavely, John Bates, and Zachary Husband will serve as pallbearers. Nephews, great newphews, great-great nephews, Jesse Sloan, Billy Joe Wood, co-workers from Western Union Telegraph; Nat Carson, Kenard Carson, Bill Rachels, Gene Yearty, and Mr. Gartman will serve as honorary pallbearers.
