Betty Sue Witten Clatos

Betty Witten Clatos, age 86 of Frankfort, passed away peacefully at the UK Markey Cancer Center, Hospice Unit on July 28, 2024. After months of fighting, I have finally won my battle against cancer and now sit at the feet of Jesus! I was blessed to live nearly 60 years in a house purchased with the love of my life, best friend and loyal husband, Lloyd Demetre Clatos. We were blessed with six loving and devoted children, all of whom have flown the nest, but have remained close to their home place. My oldest, Kathy (Robert) Hutcherson, still resides in Frankfort KY. My second born, Steve D Clatos, made his home in Lawrenceburg KY. My third child, Karen Clatos Lefler, came home from Florida to care for me in my final days. My fourth child Jerry Clatos (Peggy) built his home only a few miles away from our home place. Jerry worked with and ran a business with his father until the Lord called Lloyd home on October 29, 2020. My fifth child, Gary, lived just down the street from me until God called him home on September 10, 2021. Our last child, Penny Osborn, made her home just a short walk from our home place so she could check in and visit us daily. In addition to Lloyd and Gary, I am joining my parents, Thomas and Rushia Witten, my sister Louise Witten Samuel, five brothers, James Witten, Douglas Witten, John Thomas (JT) Witten, Hobart (Bub) Witten, and Jack Witten. I leave on earth my siblings Ken Witten and Judy Witten Price (Alan) and the rest of my beautiful and ever-growing family whose love kept me going all the way till my final breath on earth was drawn and I opened my eyes in heaven. Between meeting and joining a wonderful church family at Choateville Christian Church and living in this beautiful area, my time in Frankfort has been abundantly blessed! Some of the most compassionate people live here and are part of what makes this small town so special and unique. Death takes a toll at any age. This whole ordeal has taken so much from my family, but it has taught me some valuable insights. One of the most important lessons this journey has taught me is that your plans and God's plans rarely align. So, remember when you're making your plans, they really are tentative. Focus on not holding grudges because holding a grudge is only putting you in a sour mood. When is the last time you really let your friends know you appreciate them and invested your time in them? Your life would look a lot different without them in it, you know? If you still have your spouse with you spend time with them. Spend time with your kids. Put your phone down, pause your work, and give them a hug. Tell them how proud you are of them. Love all over them and invest in quality time with them. Go out regularly, see and experience things and sites with them. They need you. Most of all, I encourage you, if you haven't already, to find a church home. I needed a church that would actually open the Bible and read and teach from it. I needed someone to minister to my needs. I needed a church family where I could feel right at home.
