Ronald "Ron" Allen Moore

Ronald (Ron) Allen Moore, 81, passed away on Sunday, August 16th, at Baptist Health Hospital in Lexington, surrounded by his wife Gloria and family. Ron was born in San Diego, California on August 1, 1945, to Roger Allen Moore and Eloise Payton Taylor. Ron was a graduate of Frankfort High School in Frankfort, Kentucky, where he was a member of the marching band. On December 29, 1973, Ron married his soulmate Gloria Jean Durbin. Ron and Gloria celebrated 53 years together and were the foundation of a strong family, grounded in God’s word. Ron fathered four children, Jeffery Todd Moore (Bev), Melissa Anne Moore (Lee), Carrie Anne O’Neal (T.J. Spaulding), Ronda Anne Simmons (Tim). Ron’s legacy also included nine grandchildren: Jonah, Ezra, Holly, Liberty, Chance, Cayden, Devon, Faith, Elijah and Carley; and four great grandchildren: Abel, Amelia, Axel, Jameson Ronald, Cassie and Colton. Ron is survived by one sister Leisa Moore and several nieces and nephews. Ron was a dedicated Christian and faithful servant who served in many ministries over the years. These ministries included working in missions in eastern Kentucky Vacation Bible schools, teaching Sunday school, participating in the brotherhood of Deacons and serving as a mentor for, Through the Special Friends Mentor Program at Memorial Baptist Church, and a Mentoring Program at North Benson. Ron loved his lord and shared that love with everyone he knew. His commitment to his Heavenly Father is best seen represented in scripture, Matthew 28:19, Therefore go and make disciples of all Nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I commanded you. Ron dedicated his life to sharing Gods love with others through acts of service. He ensured his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were raised in church and Gods word. Ron was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was avid collector of guns and enjoyed training and hunting with many dogs. He passes down his knowledge and skill set to his family. His children share many memories with him as do several close friends over the years. He also loves animals and cherishes many pets. Ultimately, Ron was a dedicated husband and father. He was a great encourager to his family and set an example of giving your best no matter the task. He taught his children about faithfulness and dedication. His love for Gloria set a standard for us all to follow and stop short only for his love of Christ. Pallbearers will be his grandsons; Jonah, Ezra, Chance, Cayden, Devon and Elijah. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, August 21 at 11 am at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Josh Rayborn will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday, August 20 from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mission Team at St John Baptist Church, 1775 St John Rd, Frankfort, KY 40601.
