Ronald L. Goins

Ronald L. Goins of Frankfort, KY passed away at Norton Hospital after a sudden illness on December 25, 2023. Ronnie was born in Franklin County on July 9, 1947, to Joe and Sylvia (Perry) Goins. He attended Bald Knob Elementary school and Franklin County High School. He liked to joke and tell people he attended Bald Knob University. He was retired from National Distillers/Jim Beam Brands with over 30 years of service. He was a member of Evergreen Baptist Church and a volunteer for the Lebanon Community Cemetery. An avid outdoorsman, Ronnie enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family on the lake. He loved to travel and see God’s creation. He was a farmer, gardener and loved watching UK basketball and football. Ronnie never met a stranger; he could talk to anyone. He loved helping people and had a generous heart, frequently giving things to others with a need. He often filled the food blessing box at his church. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Joe and Sylvia Goins and a granddaughter, Elizabeth Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Rodgers Goins, two Daughters, Krista (John) Sawyer of Frankfort and Kelley (Randall) Johnson of Shelbyville, two granddaughters: Anna and Claire Sawyer. He also leaves behind a twin brother, Donald (Pat) Goins of Versailles and Kathy Collins of Lawrenceburg, loving aunts, many cousins, nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Tommy Goins, Connie Goins, Brian Temple, Rob Perry, Kevin Lee and Cameron Terrell. Honorary Bearers are John Sawyer, Randall Johnson, Mary Helen Terrell, Susan Lee, Terry Bryan, Danny Lewis, Darryl Martin, Mary Hughes, Hope Casey Neel, Donald Jones, Linda Stivers, and The Frankfort Regional Medical Center Cardiac Rehab Team. Services will be held on Wednesday, January 3rd at 10:30 AM at Evergreen Baptist Church. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 2nd at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home and 9:30-10:30 AM Wednesday, January 3rd at Evergreen Baptist Church. The family encourages masks. Ronnie hated to wear a suit, so the family has requested guests come casual and to wear a UK accessory. In Ronnie’s memory, guests are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to The Evergreen Baptist Church Blessing Box. Donations can be made in his memory to either the Evergreen Baptist Church Scholarship fund or to the Lebanon Community Cemetery Fence Fund.
