Nellie Nash Jackson

Nell Nash Jackson, age 99, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025. Born and raised in Frankfort, Kentucky, she remained a lifelong resident of the community she cherished. The daughter of the late Edgar and Mary-Myrtle Nash, Nell was one of seven children and was preceded in death by her siblings Earl Nash, Bill Nash, Tommy Nash, Keith Nash, Anna Mae Dunnigan, and Loretta Green, as well as her great- granddaughter, Cecelia Catherine Bishop. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 74 years, Charles Allen Jackson, who passed in 2019. Nell and Charles were a remarkable pair—steadfast partners in life, family, and work—and the thought of their reunion in heaven brings great comfort to those who loved them. A devoted member of Farmdale Baptist Church, Nell lived a long life rooted in faith, family, and hard work. Together with Charles, she proudly owned and operated a Frankfort gift shop aptly named CharNell’s. She later went on to serve the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, retiring from the Property & Supply Department in 1988. Nell was known for her sharp wit, lively sense of humor, and competitive spirit. A remarkable card player, she was a formidable opponent in a game of Rook or Phase 10. She also tended her garden with great pride, caring for it with the same devotion she gave to the people in her life. Even into her nineties, she could be found planting flowers, nurturing her yard, and feeding the hummingbirds that brought her joy. A talented craftswoman, Nell shared her love of crocheting, sewing, quilting, and countless other handmade arts with her grandchildren and great- grandchildren—passing down skills, memories, and keepsakes that will endure for generations. She was likewise a tremendous baker, and her family will miss enjoying her specialties, including chocolate pie, apricot nectar cake, and fruitcake cookies. Nell is survived by her children, Ron (Cathy) Jackson and Linda (Cecil) Goodlett; her grandchildren Paul (Melissa) Goodlett, Emily (Dan) Staples, Alison (Kenny) Goff, and Sarah (Seth) Bishop; and eight great-grandchildren: Ryan Goodlett, Drew Goodlett, Seth Staples, Ella Staples, Caroline (Fernie) Ugarte, Avery Bishop, Eleanor Bishop, and Logan Bishop. She is also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. A private service for family and close friends will be held on November 26, 2025, under the direction of LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Seth Bishop, Mike McCauley, Drew Goodlett, Seth Staples, David Otte, and Fernie Ugarte.
