Dorothy Hughes Boggess

Dorothy "Dot" Hughes Boggess, 90, passed away on Sunday, March 29, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Dorothy was born in Lawrenceburg, KY on March 12, 1925 to William Porter and Anna Hughes. She was a graduate of Kavanaugh High School in Lawrenceburg. On August 7, 1944 Dorothy married the love of her life, Paul Boggess. Paul and Dorothy spent 70 wonderful years together. Dorothy spent 30 years employed at Texas Instruments in Versailles, ending her career as supervisor of Quality Control. Dorothy's legacy includes two daughters, Linda Kay Triplett (Edward) and Kathy Paul Burton as well as 5 grandchildren, Jeffery Todd Moore (Beverly), Melissa Moore, Christie Burton, Jennifer Howard Caswell (Scott), and Allyson Lewis. Dorothy was blessed 10 great-grandchildren: Corey Jennings, Christian Jennings, Kaylin Jennings, Jonah Harrison, Ezra Harrison, Katie Lewis, Emily Lewis, Zachary Hill, Jack Caswell, and Holly Moore-Sharp. Dorothy loved springtime and watching the flowers as they ushered in a new season. She shared that love with all who came onto her front porch or sat at her dinner table. Dorothy held her family close and hosted wonderful gatherings where she was famous for her cooking. Dorothy's story telling was second only to her cooking. She told stories about her family, her work family, her Sunday school and all the things she read in the newspaper. Of course she followed and loved her KY Wildcats. Ultimately, the center of Dorothy's life was her family which included 4 sisters and one brother. Dorothy survived all her siblings, William Porter Hughes, Mary Martin, Alice Elliott, Louise Rice, and Cora Murphy. There was a great family reunion on Sunday. Dorothy extended her concept of family to the Alpha Sunday School Class at Crestwood Baptist Church, who are serving as honorary pallbearers. Pallbearers will be Douglas Miller, Jeffery Todd Moore, Gweneth Sharp, Scott Caswell, Melissa Moore, and Mark Crowdus. Funeral services will be 12:30 p.m., Thursday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Brad Hockensmith will officiate and burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
