Poe Rose

Poe Rose peacefully departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on September 19, 2024, at his daughter-Paula & Jeff Arnold’s home in Frankfort, Kentucky. Born on March 8, 1939, in Knox County, Kentucky, Poe was an exuberant, happy, upbeat, and full of life man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Poe was a backhoe operator and plumber by trade. During the last 10 years of his life, he came to know Christ and made his focus serving and loving the Lord and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who Poe treasured dearly. He was a member of Leestown Gospel Church of Frankfort. His great-grandchildren were the spice of his life. His joy of family extended beyond his grandchildren; he enjoyed calling his sisters every night and remained close to those he cherished. Poe had a very giving heart, not just with his family. He never met a stranger, and it always brought him great joy to give a dollar to every child he met out in public. It warmed his heart to brighten someone else’s day. Each night Poe would share the same goodnight words to his family – “Say your prayers, pray throughout the world, pray for each other, be as good as you can and ask God for forgiveness”. Poe was a simple man with a big heart, and we believe these words would be his advice to everyone. Poe is survived by his children, Linda Hembree, Larry (Susi) Hembree, Lisa Hembree, and Paula (Jeff) Arnold all of Frankfort, Kentucky; his granddaughters Sara (Tristan) Gibson and Aimee Hembree, and the joys of his life, his great-grandchildren Rhys, Cole, and Ainsley. Poe is also survived by his sisters Hester McNamara, Joyce McDonald, Lonnie Disney, Versia Dye, Wanda Mills, Francis Warfield, Michelle Egner all of Barbourville, Kentucky, and Mollie Mills of Loveland, Ohio; and his brother Harold Rose of London, Kentucky. Poe has many nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly, as well as many treasured neighbors and friends. Poe is proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Bessie Gambrel Rose; his parents, Nealy and Ida Rose; two brothers, Bleve Rose and William Rose; and two sisters, Donna Sue Rose and Gladys Mills. A private service to celebrate Poe’s life will be held for the family at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Frankfort, Kentucky.
