Muriel Drolet Raines

A beautiful light has gone out in this world only to shine brighter in heaven. Born in 1925 in Lowell, Mass. Muriel was a special daughter, sister, wife, mother and friend. Blessed with the voice of an angel, she was a trained soprano,a registered nurse, and a great beauty. Making her way to New York and a professional singing career, Muriel also modeled hats for high class millners when she met the love of her life, Paul. She gave up the dream of stage and fame for the life of a devoted wife and mother. Her amazing voice soothed restless babies, brought joy to toddlers and sang praises to God. The heavens are now filled with even greater beauty since Muriel arrived to join the celestial choir. Beyond her many talents, Muriel was a teacher and mentor for future care providers, training nurses and nursing techs. Showing them not only how to provide care, but also how to care deeply for their patients as human beings, just as she cared deeply for all those she came to know. Married over 60 years, Muriel was a cherished wife, devoted mother of 7, and a champion for many who needed her help. Muriel dedicated many years of her life to fighting for the rights of those with special needs, like her beloved son Craig, who could not speak for themselves. Helping to change laws and regulations empowering those with little voice to thrive and prosper to the full extend of their abilities. Ever loving the spotlight, Muriel brought joy with her in her later years, traveling, taking a cruise, dancing and even straddling a motorcyle in her poodle skirt. And she was a fantastic story teller, keeping her audience longing for more. To meet her was to love her and she will be missed so very much. God blessed us all with her presence for over 92 years and we will forever be grateful for such an special gift. Muriel was proceeded in death by her husband Paul and daughter Paula. She is survived by 3 daughter, Joan, Donna and Elise, 3 sons, Keith, Lloyd and Craig, and many, many grand and great grandchildren. Funeral services are at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Frankfort on February 26th with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:AM and a full mass at 11:00 AM.
