Mary Elizabeth Gray Moore

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Gray Moore, 88, will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Dr. Robert Browning and Rev. Truett Cocanougher will officiate. Burial will follow at Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday and 10:00 until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mary Elizabeth was born in Washington County, Kentucky on March 6, 1928. She moved to Frankfort in 1949. She was a member of First Baptist Church at the Singing Bridge for 63 years. She was a member of the Golden Circle Sunday School Class and the O.A.S.I.S. Group. She also worked in the Clothes Closet for 15 years and the Soup Kitchen. She was a graduate of Campbellsville Junior College in 1948. She taught school in Washington County for 1.5 years. After moving to Frankfort, she worked for the Department of Economic Security and taught kindergarten for 13 years. She worked and retired from the Administrative Office of the Courts. She was a member of the Kentucky Public Retirees and served many years as Secretary for the Kentucky Amateur Softball Association. She died Monday at Episcopal Church Home in Louisville. Mary Elizabeth is survived by two sons, James A. (Kay) Moore, Jr., Louisville, Ky, Gerald L. (Julie) Moore, Georgetown, Ky; two sisters-in-law, Christine Gray, Elizabethtown, Ky and Virginia Gray, Nashville, TN; one brother-in-law, G. William Moore , Aurora, IL; grandchildren, Ellen Fairbanks (Philip), Christopher Moore (Rachel), Haley Moore, Hannah Moore; and great grandchildren, Max Fairbanks, Nicholas Fairbanks, and Ann Moore; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, James A. Moore; infant son, Johnny Gray Moore; two brothers, Bobby Gray and James E. Gray; two sisters, Martha Lee Robertson and Eva Doris Begley. Hanson Robertson, Eugene Robertson, Tom Robertson, David Robertson, Philip Fairbanks, Christopher Moore, and Bill Ed Grimes will serve as pallbearers.
