John "JW" Roberts

Funeral services for John “JW” Roberts, 86, will be 11:00 a.m., Friday at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home. Rev. Philip Meade, Dr. Jay Padgett, and Dr. Fred Moffatt will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 5:00 -8:00 p.m., Thursday and 10:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home. A Franklin County native, he passed away Tuesday at Baptist Health in Lexington. He proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He received the Conduct Medal and National Defense Service Medal. He was a member and Deacon Emeritus of Graefenburg Baptist Church. He was a member of the US 60 Water Board, past member of the Masonic Lodge, past Franklin County School Board Member, and past Vice President of the Franklin County Farm Bureau, and Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service Member. He worked hard as a farmer and was voted Outstanding Young Farmer 1960 and in 2004 he received the Pioneer Farmer award for Franklin County. He graduated from Bridgeport High School. Survivors include his wife of sixty-two years, Donna Heflin Roberts; children, John "Buck" Lynn Roberts, Jeffrey Roberts (Lori), Robin Hill (Kevin), Jerry David Roberts (Kathy), all of Frankfort; grandchildren, Tristen Chesser, Jacob Roberts, Jaylynn Hill, Hannah Roberts, Julee Hill, Jadey Roberts; step-grandchildren, Sarah Washburn (Brian), Tommy Edens and Chandler Fritz; a great grandson, Bricen Washburn; special brother-in-law, Jimmy Heflin (Elaine) and nieces and nephews. Scott "Scooter" Hardin, Dale Roberts, Richard Hanley, Scott Mitchell, David Harrod and Harold Moore will serve as pallbearers. Hobart Hearn , Dennis 'Doc' Allen, Bobby Hill, Doug Smith, Jerry Hardin, Sam Tracey, Buddy Rogers, Clyde Smith, John Morrow, Clarke Case, and Lonnie Hardin will serve as honorary pallbearers. He is preceded in death by his parents, Forrest and Edna White Roberts; and siblings, Alice Faye Hardin and Ralph Roberts.
