James Edward Terry

James Edward Terry passed away peacefully on July 2, 2011. He was born near Bridgeport in Frankfort to parents Bessie Loraine (Heaton) and Joseph Lister Terry. He was the devoted husband of Lucille Meece Terry. He was employed by South Central Bell Telephone Company and A T & T and retired as a Commercial Representative after 33 years of service. He was proud to have worked with special crews in the community to install and construct telephone lines for conversion from switchboard service to the present day phone system. Mr. Terry graduated from Kavanaugh High School in Lawrenceburg. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U. S. Air Force at the Panama Canal. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Telephone Pioneers, VFW, Frankfort Arts Foundation, and a past member of the East Frankfort Optimist Club. His hobbies were genealogy, American and Kentucky history, wood working, gardening and enjoying God’s creations. He liked spending time with friends every morning having coffee. James Edward Terry was a kind, caring person and a devoted family man. He was most generous, and he loved people. He truly enjoyed gracious meals with his family and spending time in the country (Somerset). Mr. Terry is survived by his wife, Lucille Meece Terry; a daughter, Patricia Terry Vansant; and a son, James Michael Terry (Cathy). He is also survived by his brother, John Stephenson Terry, and many other family members. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eva Lorine Terry, and brothers Charles Lister Terry and Junius Hampton Terry. Services for Mr. Terry will be conducted at LeCompte Johnson Taylor Funeral Home on Friday, July 8, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be held from noon until the time of the service on that day. Reverend Wallace Kent will officiate. Burial will be in the Frankfort Cemetery. George Martin Arnold; Steve Aubrey; Jim Banks, Jr.; Wayne Meece; Vernon Holmes Meece; George Quire; and Jimmy Shearer will be pallbearers.
