Barbara Allen Hartman

Barbara Allen Hartman, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of life service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 11, 2024, at LeCompte Johnson Taylor. Jeff Eaton will be officiating. The burial will follow in the Frankfort Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service Monday, November 11, 2024. Born and raised in Shelby County, Kentucky, Barbara married the love of her life, Frank L. Hartman, in 1959. She spent ten devoted years working at Union Underwear, as well as being a dedicated homemaker and mother to five beloved children. Her unwavering faith in God guided her as a member of Bellepoint Baptist Church, where she found joy working with children and teaching Vacation Bible School for many years. Barbara’s love for God and her family was evident in every part of her life. Known for her welcoming spirit, she never let a guest leave hungry. A visit to Barbara’s home meant freshly made French fries, sweet tea, her famous no-bake chocolate oatmeal cookies, or caramel popcorn balls. Her kitchen was a gathering place for family and friends, and she made every meal with love. When she wasn’t cooking, Barbara found joy at her sewing machine, creating treasures for her family and friends. Her work with the FHS Band Color Guard in the 1980s was a source of pride as she sewed uniforms worn proudly by students at games and parades. Her kindness was unmatched, seen in gestures like bringing a five-gallon cooler of hot cocoa to every home football game to warm up the band members on chilly nights. Barbara is survived by her son, Henry (Ryvonnia) Hartman; her daughters, Edith (Al) Hines, Christinia (Josh) Sardam who spoiled her daily with ice cream and/or chocolates - which brought her great joy - and Wilma (Randy) Cummins. She was a proud grandmother to Kevin Sardam, Joseph (Rocio) Morris, Annie Maureen Sardam, Raini (William) Capley Steele, Elizabeth Mitchell, Renee Kiper, Krystal (Mario) Singh, Sarah Bailey, Laura (Korey) Sallee, Michael Hartman, Zachary Hartman, Dea Cummins, and Aira Cummins. Barbara was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and her cherished furry companion of over 15 years, Claws, who remained faithfully by her side. Barbara is reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Frank L. Hartman; her precious daughter, Sonjia Bailey; her mother, Annie Rooney Kendall Snavely; her father, Henry Snavely; her brothers, Adrail Snavely, Henry Adam Snavely, David Jerome “Hoppy” Snavely, Ronald “PeeWee” Snavely; and her sisters, Vest Tina Clark, Margaret LeMay, Wilma “Tootsie” Adams, Jennie Mary West, Annie R “Midget” LeMay, Dixie T Sloan, and Effie Gordon. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to caregiver and family friend Lois Larson, the VNA caregivers Walter, Robyn, Mandi, and Jerry, and the compassionate team at Bluegrass Care Navigators and Hospice of the Bluegrass, especially Stacy, Lindsay, April, Carissa, Katie, Stephanie, Dawn, and Village Caregivers team. Their kindness and dedication provided Barbara with the comfort and care she deserved in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators/Hospice of the Bluegrass in her honor, as a token of gratitude for the wonderful support they provided. Barbara’s legacy of love, faith, and devotion will be carried on through her family, friends, and all those she touched in her remarkable life. She will be deeply missed but remembered forever.
